Lenoir City, TN Lenoir City, TN Full-time Full-time $15 - $18 an hour $15 - $18 an hour Job Overview The primary responsibility of a Goodson Brothers Machine Operator is the safe operation and monitoring of production machinery used to process high quality coffee and tea in the most efficient manner.
Safe operation includes troubleshooting and adjusting to meet product specification.
Employees are required to operate equipment according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure personal safety, product integrity, customer satisfaction, cost and productivity needs are met.
Position
Responsibilities:
Possess mechanical mindset to clean, set up, operate and monitor complex machinery along the production line.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties and perform minor repairs on equipment.
Maintain an environment that is safe and healthy, and report unsafe situations or conditions immediately.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance is adhered to as outlined in Food Safety Plan and other quality SOPs.
Verify all parts and aspects of production are correct - machine settings, augers, formers, seals, oxygen levels, etc.
Ensure strict quality standards including seal integrity and residual oxygen levels.
Pull product samples as required and perform quality inspections on the product and packaging, as necessary.
Ensure correct items are used to produce each product.
Ensure weights and case counts are correct by monitoring at required intervals.
Ensure box printing, taping and pallet configuration is correct (format, color code, ti-hi) Ensure all required documentation is completed clearly, legibly and accurately.
Complete all scheduled quality checks.
Review work and turn in Machine Operator paperwork as required.
Complete effective and efficient changeovers, including disassembly, sanitation and reassembly as needed, including threading film and/or filter paper, changing and confirming labeling information, etc.
Keep a clean work area.
Transfer materials, supplies and products between work areas using moving equipment and hand tools.
When not in use, store clean tools, utensils, and machine parts in a sanitary manner.
Act and ensure that proper follow-up has taken place when quality defects occur.
Aids in training new hires and the development of production employees, once certified.
Communicates all problems with the packaging line (maintenance, downtime, etc.
) or personnel to the supervision.
Ability and willingness to support Goodson Brothers food safety culture and core values.
Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stretch and stand during entire shift Ability to frequently kneel, squat, climb stairs/ladders, bend, stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
Must have full use of both hands, arms, legs, and feet.
Must possess general vision, hearing, speech, and color perception abilities.
Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures ranges.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment.
Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
Basic mathematical skills to make production calculations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Maintain and improve necessary competence to effectively operate line or area.
Ability to quickly learn about how processing and packaging equipment works.
Mechanical understanding or manufacturing experience preferred.
Self-motivated team player with ability to make decisions, communicate and problem solve preferred.
Comfort with basic computer functions and ability to quickly learn production software preferred.
Attention to detail.
Position Qualifications Minimum Age:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions, Basic writing skills Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Experience:
1-3 years of production-related experience is preferred, especially in Food and Beverage experience.
Preferred Skills:
Ability to determine and communicate root causes of defects or deficiencies.
Proactive individual that takes responsibility for their equipment, line, coworkers and the continuous improvement of the operation Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Engage in problem solving to assist in improving safety, quality, yields and productivity.
Assist with training efforts in functional areas as needed.
Maintain a high level of safety and quality awareness and a high degree of urgency.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Shifts:
First Shift:
Fri-Thu, 6AM-6PM.
Second Shift:
Fri-Thu, 6PM-6AM.
Must be available to work weekends as neede Job Type:
